**The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program offers scholarships of up to $5,000 to Pell Grant recipients participating in credit-bearing study abroad programs. Undergraduates conducting STEM-research abroad can receive up to $1000 more, and students studying critical need languages may receive up to $3,000 more.

**The Goldwater Scholarship is specifically for sophomores or juniors engaged in research, who intend to pursue research careers in math, the natural sciences, and engineering (maximum award: $7,500).

**Research and Study funding offered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), to support almost all subjects, including STEM.
- Students identify the graduate study program, apply for DAAD funding, and then also apply to the actual master’s program. Please note, many programs in Germany are offered in English, but always check the language of instruction!
- Research projects between 2-12 months can be funded for current PhD students and post-docs. Additionally recent graduates, undergrad or master’s students, who will be entering a PhD program by the start of the DAAD grant are also eligible to apply for a research award. Prior knowledge of German is not always required, however some language proficiency maybe helpful to communicate with colleagues.

**Summer Research for students in the field of biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, earth science, engineering or a closely related field is offered by DAAD RISE (Research Internships in Science and Engineering). Prior knowledge of German is not always required:
- RISE Germany: undergraduates complete a mentored summer research internship at top German universities and research institutions. https://www.daad.de/rise/en/rise-germany/
- RISE Professional: Master’s and Ph.D. students are placed at companies and non-university research institutions with strong relations to industry. Depending on the internship, recent graduates are also eligible. https://www.daad.de/rise/en/rise-professional/

**Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) for Young Professionals is a cultural immersion exchange program that includes language study, internships, and homestays in Germany. Open to all majors and career fields, applicants must be between 18.5 – 24 years old. Prior knowledge of German is not required.
- Intensive Language Training: Two months of intensive German language training
- Study Phase: One semester of classes in one’s academic or career field at a university, technical, or professional school
- Internship Phase: Three-to-five-month internship in one’s career field (previous students have engaged in research)
