Transportation Engineer II Position Available in Seattle

Looking for a temporary job? King County’s Metro Transit System and Traffic Engineering team is looking to hire a temporary 3-year transportation engineer: 

This Transportation Engineer II TLT (Term-Limited Temporary) position in Metro’s Transit Systems and Traffic Engineering team will require a strong interest in improving transit mobility in the region. This is a three-year project position anticipated to end in September, 2018.

The position will work on both transit planning and traffic engineering projects. The work involves planning and developing conceptual plans, and reviewing design plans related to the transit priority treatments along high transit corridor prepared by consultants or external agency partners. In addition, this position will include some traffic engineering analysis, bus stop capacity analysis, complex analysis and reports, managing projects and project teams, working collaboratively with internal and external project teams/stakeholders, and preparing and presenting technical information for technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Salary: $32.83 – $41.62 Hourly or $68,286.40 – $86,569.60 Annually
  • Job Type: Term Limited Temporary, Full Time, 40 hrs/wk
  • Work schedule: The standard work week is within the 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday timeframe; however, alternative work schedules will be considered. This position is Non-Exempt from the FLSA and therefore is eligible for overtime pay if scheduled.

Job Qualifications: 

  • A Master’s Degree in civil engineering with a transportation focus, with one year of professional experience in transit operation or planning OR a Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering or other transportation related field providing basic knowledge of traffic engineering principles, practices, and operations and a minimum of two years of increasingly responsible experience in a traffic engineering OR any other combination of professional experience and education which provides the applicant with the skills, knowledge and abilities required to perform the work, are required.
