CAP Fall Quarter Kickoff on Oct 12

Do you want to meet College of Engineering students interested in structural change and keeping up the momentum from racial justice protests?

Then join the CEE Action Planning group (CAP) at its Fall Quarter Kickoff on Monday, October 12 at 4:30pm. The first half hour will be more of an informal mixer and then spend time getting to know new people and catching up with returning members. At 5pm, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Dan Ratner, is planning to join and give an overview of what the efforts at the College of Engineering look like.

The kickoff meeting is open to all students and post-docs in the College of Engineering. This will be a free-flowing event, so come and join for whichever part(s) you like. Join the zoom meeting here.

Learn more about CAP by continuing to read.

CAP is an informal, self-organized student and post-doc group that began in Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) that wants to ensure that the momentum from recent protests for justice and renewed attention to the anti-racism movement would not be lost. They meet every two weeks to discuss how we can ensure that our department and the College of Engineering will enact tangible, substantive actions to make structural changes in our immediate spheres.

They are also the primary point of contact for the undergrad-led petition that is working to sustain pressure on CEE to properly address and follow through with petition items. The petition was delivered in June and has accumulated more than 370 signatures of students, staff, faculty and alumni of CEE. If you haven’t signed the petition yet, it’s still open for your support!
