Senior Year Planning Worksheet: Step-by-Step Process (attached)

We have developed a new Senior Year Planning document (attached). The goal is to help you better understand the Technical Elective and Upper Division Engineering & Science Elective requirements so that you can identify and prioritize these classes. This document is targeted toward rising seniors but is applicable for all CEE majors. We will also be hosting Senior Year Faculty Mentoring Sessions in April so engaging with this process now will help you prepare for those sessions.  If you have any questions, please let us know.

Graduating Seniors

If you are graduating in SPR22, your refreshed degree audit should show a graduation date and a note that “all requirements are met if in progress courses are completed.” If your audit is showing that you are missing requirements, please let us know asap.

  • Graduation Celebrations: The dates have been set for both the 2022 CEE Graduation Celebration (Sat, June 4th) and the UW Commencement (Sat, June 11th).

For more information, please see our “CEE Preparing to Graduate Page.”

Details on the UW Commencement (Sun, June 11th) can be found on the commencement website including how to register for the event and order cap & gown (this will open in early May)

Details on the CEE Graduation Celebration (Sat, June 4th) will be sent out in early May as well.

Letters of Recommendation (BSCE/BSENVE Juniors and Seniors)

Whether you are applying to graduate school or for a full-time job after graduation, you will need letters of recommendation from CEE Faculty. We recommend choosing a few faculty members, either who you’ve taken classes with or who are in your area of focus, to reach out to. They are expecting to hear from you so do this sooner rather than later.  When you contact them, make sure you are providing them with enough information (who you are, your goals, next steps, etc.) that they can write you a personal letter.

FE Exam (BSCE/BSENVE Juniors and Seniors)

Your BSCE and BSENVE junior year 300-level curriculum is set up to prepare you to take the FE Exam, which in turn provides you with your Engineer in Training License (EIT).  The majority of CEE majors     will take the FE Exam (Civil or Environmental) in the summer after the Junior year. Information can be found here.

    • Please note that the FE Exam schedule may be impacted by COVID19. It is our recommendation that you create an account and try to sign up to take the FE exam. If there are delays, you will be informed of them during the registration process.
