Dr. Sarah Atkinson

Dr. Sarah Atkinson is a colorectal surgeon at University of Washington and currently practices primarily at the Montlake Campus and Fred Hutch Cancer Center. She grew up in Washington D.C. and went to undergrad at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. She went to medical school at the University of Illinois and continued on to the University of Cincinnati for general surgery residency. She finally completed her colorectal surgery fellowship at the University of Toronto before moving to Seattle. Sarah has been a College mentor since 2024.

Dr. Atkinson’s professional interests include inflammatory bowel disease, colorectal cancer, bedside clinical skills, and career differentiation and counseling. She is passionate helping students feel a sense of belonging within their school and community as well as helping them decide their future fields. She enjoys spending time with her family as well as skiing, cooking, traveling, and pilates.
