This is to inform you that I have sent by a Chinese friend returning to your city a life sized photograph of your goodself decorated with floral designs. This I have forwarded to the Seattle Chamber of Commerce and Commercial Club and have asked the President Mr. Rhodes have it hung in some prominent place as a token of my regard and esteem for my life long friend. I hope you will approve.
Things here are very unsettled due to continued fighting between Kongsi and Kwongtung soldiers and the Lord only knows when all this trouble will cease. It kills trade and puts all sorts of enterprises in the air, especially the extension of my line.
When are you coming this way again? It will be pleasant to see you. And how are the elections coming on. People out here say that the Republicans must win but one can never tell these days….
