USTC – UW INSTITUTE for GLOBAL BUSINESS and FINANCIAL INNOVATION
| On May 9, 2017 the Foster School of Business held the opening ceremony for the new USTC-UW Institute for Global Business and Finance Innovation. This joint venture between the University of Science and Technology of China and University of Washington is intended to provide a platform for commercial and financial theory and practice of collaborative innovation between the two universities. | |

The focus on the tutorial was to design a modern PM course that focuses on the management of complex risky projects. The goal is to elevate PM curriculum above the level of traditional tools like CPM and PERT and design a course that is taught at an intellectual level. |

MSIS PROGRAM
| On June 2, 2017 the Foster MSIS Program celebrated the Class of 2017 graduation. Along with family and friends, the MSIS Program welcomed Jim Little, Technology Strategy Lead for EY, as the keynote speaker and Ben Hou gave remarks on behalf of the class of 2017. During the ceremony Mohit Deshpande received the MSIS Student Merit Award and the MSIS Faculty Teaching Award was given to Prof. Manoj Parameswaran. |

| On June 7, 2017, the inaugural cohort of the Master of Supply Chain Management Program came together with family and friends in Kane Hall to celebrate their graduation. These trailblazers worked extremely hard over the last 12 months to complete a rigorous master’s degree in an accelerated format. We were honored to celebrate their accomplishments and welcome them as alumni. The keynote address was given by Dave Clark, SVP of Worldwide Operations at Amazon and an MSCM advisory board member. During the ceremony Megha Aggarwal received the MSCM Student Merti Award and the MSCM Faculty Teaching Award was given to Prof. Kamran Moinzadeh. | ||

| The OSCM Club hosted Brand Koster, transportation planner and UW Alum from King County Metro on April 26, 2017 to discuss how he manages the immense amount of data. | |

On May 17, 2017 the OSCM Club held its Spring Quarter Industry Mixer where students interested in supply chain were able to network with industry professionals from Boeing, Starbucks, Convoy, Honeywell, King County Metro, and Joe’s Garage Coffee. |

| BITS sent a team of three to compete in the 2017 Competition on Management Information Systems (CoMIS) in Minneapolis, MN on March 29 – April 1, 2017. This year’s competition theme was “Business in the Twin Cities.” Twenty teams competed in this year’s competition from nine countries. The UW Foster School team delivered an amazing presentation, but did not advance. In addition to displaying their business skills they were able to attend networking events with corporate sponsors like 3M, General Mills, and BlueShield. |
