Mirroring

For those of you who find it best to mirror me while I go through a set of moves, I will post some five minute videos here that you can follow along with. Remember you can change the speed via your youtube video settings so if you want to go a little faster or a little slower (or much faster or slower!) then you can adjust it accordingly. I will do the workouts at a nice easy pace to start with.

My father says mirroring acts as a sort of mental challenge that adds to the benefits of the exercise for him. I will also have videos posted that can be followed without transposing left and right.

That said, disconnecting from a screen and using the shapes and sounds in your mind would be a good mental exercise as well.

Follow the Bouncing Ball

You also see below a series of animated gifs that give animated representations of the moves. These you can collect, go gray or go wild, drag straight to your desktop from here, and access them for endless gif loops to follow along with. Head over to kapwing.com if you’d like to edit them into movies with your own music. I will post some samples here:

The ball gifs are inspired by a sing-along movie craze about 100 years ago in the movie theaters. Musical short movies would have lyrics and a white bouncing ball for the audience to follow along with in time together. Check out this history of the bouncing ball movies.

Indian Club Swinging

Another craze that “swept the world” about a hundred years ago was an exercise called Indian Club swinging which operated on very similar principles to the Infinite Ball exercise. These clubs eventually morphed into the clubs jugglers use. Since they are clubs and not rubber balls, there is a lot more concentration on wrist movement, creating double circle patterns with the varied swinging patterns.Way more dangerous than this!
Here’s some outside links about Indian club swinging for you to explore.

Meditations

I will be posting and I encourage anybody so inclined to do so as well, some meditations with the ball. You might find particularly with young children that the ball can facilitate some of the ideas in meditation practice.

Forum

The best resource could be the forum. Share your ideas and absorb new ones, please post in the Forum or comments sections of this course. Thank you.
