ESRM 430: Remote Sensing of the Environment

Software

In 2020 we have transitioned to offer the labs in ESRI ArcGIS Pro, here is the prior free software used in the course

  • GOOGLE EARTH
  • SPRING – is a state-of-the-art GIS and remote sensing image processing system with an object-oriented data model which provides for the integration of raster and vector data representations in a single environment. SPRING is a product of Brazil’s National Institute for Space Research.
  • FUSION  – is a lidar analysis and visualization software developed by the USDA Forest Service.
  • VisualSFM – is a GUI application for 3D reconstruction using structure from motion (SFM). The reconstruction system integrates several of my previous projects: SIFT on GPU(SiftGPU), Multicore Bundle Adjustment, and Towards Linear-time Incremental Structure from Motion. VisualSFM runs fast by exploiting multicore parallelism for feature detection, feature matching, and bundle adjustment.

Aerial photography & other map resources at the UW Libraries can be found — we will let you know if you need them
