WWAMI Student Travel

WWAMI Student Travel

As a student at the University of Washington School of Medicine, you will be expected to travel the five-state WWAMI region to complete required clerkship rotations (including the WRITE program) during your Patient Care and Explore & Focus phases of the curriculum. You might also travel nationally during any of the four years of the curriculum to attend various student and professional conferences. The School of Medicine has funding to help offset some of your major travel costs associated with clerkship and conference travel.

Because these funds come to the School from the WWAMI state legislatures, it is all public money, and there are laws and policies that limit how the money can be spent. This website attempts to briefly explain those limits.

You can find a brief outline of WWAMI clerkship travel here.

If you have questions about specific travel-related policy, you might be better off looking at the alphabetical list of topics here.

ONLINE REIMBURSEMENT SUBMISSION

Starting in July 2023, the University of Washington switched to a new finance system, called Workday. In the past, we sent a reimbursement email for students to respond to to request reimbursement. In order to declutter the gowwami@uw.edu inbox, we decided to change the reimbursement process to an online Microsoft Forms submission.

This has various benefits:

1. Decluttering the gowwami@uw.edu inbox allows us to answer student questions more quickly.

2. Using the online form allows us to submit reimbursements more efficiently, speeding up the reimbursement process.

To get started, fill out the online form here.
