Research Interests: Hearing, Language
Work Summary: We study auditory brain and perceptual development and how it relates to language learning by combining magnetoencephalography, electroencephalography, psychophysics, and clinical assessment methods. Since human infants hear and understand speech before they talk, one of the ultimate goals of the lab is to improve our ability to identify infants at risk for language learning difficulties through their early auditory responses. We are also interested in how auditory brain development and language learning might differ in individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing as well as individuals who have autism spectrum disorder.
