Research Areas: | Balance, hearing, speech |
Research Interests: | Speech and music processing in cochlear implants; vestibular implants |
Primary Methodologies: |
Digital signal processing; electrophysiology; psychoacoustics |
Work Summary: | My primary research is on developing signal processing strategies to improve speech and music coding in cochlear implants. My areas of interest are: efficient coding strategies for cochlear implants, speech enhancement, speech perception, psychoacoustics and, more broadly, biomedical signal processing. More recently I became interested in the development of vestibular neural prostheses and have been conducting experiments on humans and animals to assess a prototype clinical device. |
