IPhD Fall Gathering

With research interests spanning the social sciences, humanities, sciences, engineering and medicine, students in the Individual PhD program spend much more time in the home departments of their primary faculty advisors than they do with each other.

Because of this, meeting over lunch in the Fall quarter each year provides a valuable opportunity to meet new students, spend time together, and hear a brief summary of ongoing research. This year’s gathering was in the HUB, a convenient central location.

Faculty advisors also attend to share updates on their students’ work and to explain how their own expertise aligns with this research. Program Director Mark Zachry (fourth from left) considers this event and the spring quarter research symposium to be important opportunities to bring the IPhD community together.
