On the day of your surgery
- You will check in on the second floor of the surgical pavilion at the time told by your patient care coordinator.
- A nurse will come to the check-in area to take you back to the pre-operative region. Your family or friend can go to the pre-operative area with you.
- You will change into patient gowns and receive some intravenous medications in the pre-operative area. Your surgical and anesthesia will come to see you for any last-minute questions before surgery.
- When it is time, the anesthesia team will take you back to the operating room. Pre-operative nurse will lead your family or friend to the waiting area.
- Expect many people and teams in the operating room.

- Anesthesia team
- Perfusionist
- Operating room nurses
- Physician assistants
- Patient transport team
- We may remove body hair in the surgical area to decrease the chance of infection.
- When the surgery is completed, you will be transported with your operating room care team to the cardiothoracic intensive care unit. A formal hand-off will be conducted and your care will be taken over by the cardiothoracic intensive care team.

Parking
Patient Parking is located in Triangle Garage or the Surgical Pavilion Parking Garage. UWMC Montlake Driving Directions and Parking
