Linus Pauling Award

The Linus Pauling Award recognizes outstanding achievement in chemistry and is presented annually by the Puget Sound, Oregon, and Portland Sections of the American Chemical Society. The award is named after Dr. Linus Pauling, a native of the Pacific Northwest, because of the inspiration of his example. A nominee shall have made outstanding contributions to chemistry of a character that have merited national and international recognition.

 

 

2020 Winner – Paul J. Chirik

Professor Paul Chirik of Princeton University was selected as the 2020 recipient of the Pauling Award Medal for his work on catalysis with Earth-abundant elements and his impact on sustainable chemistry.

The Linus Pauling Award Symposium in honor of Prof. Chirik was held at the University of Washington in Seattle on October 9, 2021. Visit the Award Symposium page.
