Prized Composers
Welcome to Prized Composers, a resource for wind musicians, conductors, and educators. Prized Composers is designed to highlight the wind works of distinguished, prize-winning composers, for the advancement of quality repertoire in the field of wind music.
We welcome input, missing pieces, and links to publicly available recordings that are not listed. (salzman@uw.edu) Please note, we are not including arrangements unless they are written or supervised by the composer.
“The Prized Composers website contains information about composers who have received Pulitzer Prizes, Grawemeyer Awards, Rome Prizes, Guggenheim Fellowships, Charles Ives Living Awards, and/or American Academy Arts and Letters Music Prizes. This information will be extremely valuable for conductors and all who study or perform contemporary music, especially those conducting wind bands/ensembles or coaching wind instrumental groups.” – Frank Battisti
