Senior Research Scientist, Sustainable Transportation Lab

Bio

Daniel Malarkey has led research and development teams in transportation, technology, and energy in Pacific Northwest for over thirty years. For the Sustainable Transportation Lab, he researches cost-effective investments in EV infrastructure and how to generate positive social outcomes from new mobility technologies and services including shared e-scooters and e-bikes, transportation network companies, and autonomous vehicles. His business experience includes leading Amazon.com’s online marketing team in the 1990s and founding a biofuels company in the 2000s. During the Great Recession, he served as Deputy Director of the Washington State Department of Commerce where he provided leadership for the State Energy Office, the State Broadband Office, and the agency’s policy and research staff. In addition to his work at the Lab, he also serves as a Senior Fellow at the Sightline Institute in Seattle.
