Hello, Huskies!

After acting as a cloud magnet for the better part of the past week, the sun is finally peeking out over Seattle this morning. It won’t last long, though, as another system approaches the area this evening.

Rainfall associated with this weather-maker shouldn’t be widespread, but cloud cover will again increase this afternoon and persist into Wednesday morning. Highs today will top out in the mid-to-upper 50s, with chilly nighttime temperatures in the low-to-mid 40s.

Wednesday will remain mainly dry for much of the region outside of a localized area of rainfall known as the convergence zone, which will continue over the south Snohomish County and north/central King County for much of the day.

Temperatures Wednesday will be noticeably colder. Highs will be in the low 50s, with lows dipping below 40 degrees for many areas.

If you have been enjoying the mild autumn, avert your eyes, because winter will make an early appearance this weekend.

Thursday will be our transition day. Partly sunny skies and high temperatures around 60 degrees will be the last of the 60s, or 50s, we see for a few days.

A pool of cold air over central Canada will graze the Seattle area this weekend, resulting in January-like temperatures for much of western Washington.

High temperatures will struggle to surpass the mid-40s on Friday and for much of the weekend, as lows should drop near or below freezing for the first time this season.

Pass travel will be difficult on Friday afternoon and evening. Snow levels will be below pass level and lowering near 2,000 feet Friday evening. It’s possible some of the higher hills see some snow mixed in Friday night— in October! 2020 for ‘ya!

Things will dry out Saturday and stay that way for much of the next week. Temperatures will slowly recover from chilly 40s to more seasonable low 50s by Monday. The upcoming week looks like some glorious autumn weather. Peaking fall colors and foggy morning will make for some festive and spooky sights leading up to Halloween!

Just remember, if you don’t like the weather one day this week, don’t fret, there is something for everyone!
