Shiqi Ding, a second-year PhD student in the Interdisciplinary PhD Program in Urban Design and Planning, was recently awarded a Clean Energy Institute (CEI) graduate fellowship for 2024-25.
This fellowship supports doctoral students at UW working on clean energy research across diverse disciplines, such as chemistry, materials science, physics, public policy, and energy equity.
CEI fellows conduct original research that advances the adoption of scalable and equitable clean energy solutions, while also engaging in professional development workshops and at least two outreach activities in their fellowship year. While the research focus must be directed at one of the core CEI research areas (solar energy, energy storage, energy systems, advanced materials & measurements), the selection process emphasizes the student’s demonstrated merit rather than the specific project. More details on the fellowship can be found here.
