Mental Wellness in Finals Week: Creation Station

Finals week is an exciting time on any college campus: projects wrap up, final papers are submitted, and summer break is on the horizon.

It’s also a time of extreme stress for many students.

We empathize with our patrons and want to do what we can to make this time of the year more manageable: we keep our Research Help desk staffed, we continue to encourage students to contact subject-expert librarians, and we schedule pop-up citation-creation help over the lunch hour. But sometimes students just need a break more than they need advice.

Introducing the UW Tacoma Library Creation Station!

Located in the SNO Foyer, this cluster of self-service activities offers brief diversions to allow you to refocus your brain and clear your mind for a few minutes. We offer:

  • Jigsaw puzzles
  • Coloring pages & coloring pencils
  • Children’s books (for students or children-in-tow)
  • Magnetic poetry
  • Zen cards
  • Conversation games

How do you like these? What else would you appreciate during this time of the quarter? Let us know what you think!
