Spruce up your only scholarly identity with
Open Scholar Cafe
Open Scholar Cafe is back and in a hybrid format for Autumn 2021
The Library again is hosting a drop-in space for faculty and staff authors to get their questions answered about scholarly publishing, open access, and the tools available to share scholarly work.
What is Open Scholar Cafe?
The Library supports scholarly publishing through a number of services, including the quarterly listing of publications and research awards. We also offer UW Tacoma Digital Commons, the campus institutional repository and the UW Tacoma author gallery. Through this service, faculty and staff authors can have a Library-managed profile to feature their scholarly record and share works published openly.
If you are a UW Tacoma faculty or staff member interested in learning more about these services and how you can use Open Access frameworks to share your work, please consider attending our hybrid, drop-in event from 12:30-1:30pm on Wednesday, November 10th (details below!). If this time doesn’t work for you, reach out to Justin Wadland.
What can I discuss with us at Open Scholar Cafe?
- Options for sharing scholarly work through Open Access
- UW Open Access (OA) Policy
- Creating and/or updating a profile
- Uploading your scholarship to our institutional repository, UW Tacoma Digital Commons
- ORCID IDs
- Creating collections featuring student work
- Scholarly publishing questions
- Digital infrastructures that support open and digital scholarship at UW
And to the most important question: Will there be donuts?
Yes, there will be donuts available onsite! But for the safety of others, we will provide bags for “take away” COVID-safe consumption of said donuts.
