UWT is Getting a Seed Library!

The UWT Library, in partnership with the UWT Giving Garden, is introducing a brand new seed library open to all UW students, staff, and faculty.

Library card catalog with sign sitting on top saying UWT Seed Library In Bloom Soon

Join us at the Seed Library Kick-off Event, where you can learn about using this resource to grow food and flowers, plant some seeds together, and take home supplies to grow your own herbs!! This event will be held at the Giving Garden on Thursday 4/17 from 12-2pm.

If you can’t make it to the kick-off event, you can come visit the seed library (housed in a beautiful old card catalog) on the 1st floor of the Snoqualmie (SNO) Building.

Many of the vegetables, herbs, and ornamentals included in the seed library will be container friendly so that you can  grow plants at home, no matter the size of your yard or if you even have one! You will also find books to check out that will help you figure out container gardening and how to take care of plants in the PNW.

While we can’t accept seed donations from individuals, we are committed to providing openly pollinated, Non-GMO seeds. This means you should be able to save plant-able seeds from the plants you grow for yourself in future years or to share with your friends, family, and community.

In addition to providing access to seeds so that students can grow vegetables, herbs, and other plants at home for their consumption, education, and enjoyment, we also hope that the Seed Library will help address food insecurity by giving students free resources to grow their own nutritious food.

We can’t wait to see you at the Seed Library!
