Happy Pride, UW Tacoma!!
The UWT Library tries to mark important months of the year with displays in the SNO and TLB buildings. We’ve had displays on Civil Rights during Black History Month, and displays on Gender and Sexuality for Pride Month in June, to name a few.
It is also our standing belief that diverse and intersectional voices should always be highlighted on our shelves, not just during special months, which is why we regularly rotate out our new titles collections for everyone to enjoy and learn from.
Here’s one of the ways we are celebrating Pride this year.
Campus Resources
Our amazing colleagues in the Center for Equity and Inclusion are a great starting point for anyone wanting resources, support, and community. Close to campus, check out the Rainbow Center, which expands resources and safe space through education, advocacy, and celebration.
Library Resources
Libraries carefully put together subject guides: curated collection of resources, portals to different types of information — articles, books, primary sources, media and pop culture, news sources, etc. — that are relevant to a specific academic discipline of inquiry.
Today we are highlighting our recently revamped Gender and Sexuality subject guide. Take a look — did you know that we have access to
- a super cool Queer Zine Archive,
- a Music and Social Justice collection that focuses on how rallies and performances use music to address social conflict
- and books such as Butler’s Undoing gender,
to name a few of the important resources you have access to? The journals Feminist Studies, GLQ: A Journal of Gay and Lesbian Studies, and Transgender Studies Quarterly are also some of the journals that are available online with your UWNet ID login.
Check out the rest of our subject guides to find cool resources in your area of study!
