Summer 2016 Student Intern Program

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) is looking for student interns who are interested in transportation planning and engineering. Gain valuable on-the-job experience under the guidance of experienced transportation professionals. Interns will participate in transportation planning and engineering activities including:

  • Designing and implementing transportation safety improvements and multimodal complete streets
  • Performing community outreach and engagement, responding to community requests for transportation improvements
  • Coordinating with other city agencies, contractors and communities on transportation-related projects

Requirements & Details

  • At the time of filing, the applicant must be in an accredited Engineering, Planning, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Computer Science / Information Services Program at a university or a related field at a community college. Applicants considering a career in transportation engineering or planning are preferred.
  • An applicant can be employed up to six (6) months after graduation; otherwise, the applicant must be returning to their undergraduate program or entering a graduate program in Fall 2016.
  • All persons entering the City and County of San Francisco workforce are required to provide verification of authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Part-time work opportunities may be available during the school year. Earn up to $2,070-$2,331 bi-weekly depending on your qualifications.
