Have a great idea for an innovation that will contribute to a healthier planet? We have funding to help build your prototype — Apply by December 20th!
Student teams are invited to apply for funding to build prototypes for the Alaska Airlines Environmental Innovation Challenge. These funds can be used to purchase materials, rent equipment, or hire short-term workers with skills beyond the team’s capacity. Application opens Tuesday, Dec. 1st and closes Sunday, Dec. 20th at midnight.

- Team Formation Night
- Wednesday, December 2nd, 5:30-7:00 PM in the HUB Rm. 332
- Prototype Application DUE
- December 20th at midnight
- Go to EIC.Washington.edu to be directed to the application, which opens on Dec. 1st.
- Team Registration DUE
- January 22nd to February 1st (Open your online account with basic team information
- OFFICIAL EIC ENTRY DUE
- February 21st. No late entries accepted!
- Upload your 5-7 page business summary
About the EIC:
Students are our best hope for solving the world’s most pressing environmental problems. If you have passion and the desire to make an impact, the Challenge is for you. In the EIC, interdisciplinary student teams define an environmental problem, design a solution, build a prototype and/or a computer simulation, and create a business summary that demonstrates the market potential.
What and Who are Eligible?
Any product, process or service that reduces waste, minimizes energy consumption, and contributes to a healthier planet. Re-use, recycling, water usage, energy generation, green consumer products, and nanotechnology– are all ripe for innovation.
