There are currently two open engineering intern positions with Bellevue Utilities. One position will focus on asset management, and the other will focus on water & sewer system planning and hydraulics. Either position could also support efforts related to utility system expansion or relocation to accommodate development or transportation projects. The asset management program ensures that existing infrastructure is maintained, repaired, and replaced in the most cost effective manner. Water & sewer system capacity is analyzed to ensure that future growth can be accommodated. Either position may require fieldwork to collect water, sewer and/or storm drainage facility data.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities and Qualifications

- GIS analysis in ArcMap (prior experience preferred but not required).
- Data retrieval and analysis in Excel and/or Access.
- Word processing and document preparation.
- Review of developer project proposals and transportation projects for potential utility conflicts or impacts.
- Basic water system modeling tasks in Infowater and/or EPANET software, with oversight.
- Basic sewer system modeling tasks in EPA SWMM software, with oversight.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience Requirements
Applicant must be registered as an engineering student in a 4-year bachelor’s or a master’s degree program related to utilities. Anticipated graduation must not be earlier than Spring 2017 (later is acceptable). At least two years of engineering curriculum college course work is preferred. Civil or environmental engineering students are preferred, but other engineering disciplines may be considered.

- Ability to accurately collect and analyze large volumes of data, formulate solutions to problems, and review work for accuracy and reasonableness.

- Good oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Spreadsheet and database computer skills and aptitude.
- Skill in documenting procedures, summarizing findings, and writing reports and correspondence.
