Summer Internships and Entry Level Positions with Fehr & Peers

Fehr & Peers is a team of entrepreneurial individuals empowered to collaborate, innovate, and develop creative solutions that improve communities. They provide planning and engineering services associated with all modes of transportation. Fehr & Peers is currently hiring for entry-level and internship positions for this summer.

Entry-level engineers and planners will be exposed to several projects from their wide areas of emphasis and a wide variety of tasks, including:

  • Transportation analysis using the latest traffic engineering and planning software
  • Design opportunities, including design of traffic signals, bicycle lanes and paths, streetscape and lighting
  • Report writing
  • Field work
  • Meeting participation, including preparation of presentations and public outreach material
  • Project management
  • On-the-job training and mentoring
  • Participation in professional organizations

New hires perform a wide variety of tasks, including:

  • Field work

Requirements: Engineers/planners must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in transportation, civil, or electrical engineering, urban and regional planning, or a related major. Desirable work experience includes exposure to field work, traffic operations analysis (e.g., HCS, Synchro, VISSIM), signal design, transportation planning (e.g., bicycle or transit plans, infrastructure finance, transportation and land use policy), and travel demand modeling (e.g., Cube/Voyager, TransCAD, EMME).  GIS experience is desirable.  Candidates should have excellent technical writing and public speaking skills, and an EIT for engineering candidates is highly desirable.

Interships: Interns take on similar tasks and responsibilities as a full-time entry-level staff. Internships are available in all offices for the semester, summer, or year. Interns must be at a junior or senior-level pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in transportation, civil or electrical engineering; urban and regional planning; or related major. Coursework and/or extracurricular activities in transportation are highly desirable.
