Project Coordinator Position for Tacoma County

Tacoma County’s construction and engineering department is looking to bring on a Construction Project Coordinator/ Assistant Project Engineer to help with the busy summer workload. This individual will be splitting time between the main office and being in the field/ on-site. Some of their work will include tracking subcontractors, managing time and materials, tracking submittals, assisting in site inspections and acting as liaison between field and office staff. This person must have a valid driver’s license and be able to lift 50 pounds. Strong organization is a must as they will be acting as a “second set of eyes” on project to ensure that nothing slips through the cracks. Construction season generally ends in October when bad weather sets in but a FTE offer may be extended if there are enough office projects and tasks to be done throughout the fall and winter months. If there is not enough, they may be asked to come back on a project-to-project basis or as needed.

Applicants must have:

  • Bachelors or Associates degree
  • Some prior construction knowledge (must be aware of common industry procedures, terms and abbreviations)
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs. min.
  • Have strong organizational skills that a promote attention to detail, problem solving and immediate follow up to resolve issues

Pluses:

  • BA/AA in Construction Management, Civil or Structural Engineering
