What is LSAMP?

The Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program is a federal initiative funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). In 2009, the NSF awarded the LSAMP grant to five institutions in the Pacific Northwest region, the University of Washington as the lead institution. The LSAMP program aims to increase the number of underrepresented students who successfully complete baccalaureate degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and the number of those students interested in and qualified for graduate studies. The UW LSAMP program supports the NSF’s strategic goal of creating a diverse, competitive, and globally engaged U.S. workforce of scientists and engineers, who will drive innovation and discovery. Learn more about us on the LSAMP Website.
