Over the last 24 years, the Schweiger Memorial Scholarship Fund has awarded nearly 300 scholarships totaling over $1 Million Dollars to students pursuing careers in construction and engineering related fields.

Frequent asked questions:

• Who can apply?
  • The SMSF Apprentice Scholarship is open to High School Seniors and individuals pursuing careers in the construction industry through Apprenticeships and Trade Schools.  The Apprenticeship Scholarship is not open to individuals that are Journeymen status.
  • The SMSF Undergraduate Scholarship is open to High School Seniors and College Students with at least one full year left in Undergraduate Programs.  The Undergraduate Scholarship is not open to individuals enrolling or enrolled in Graduate or Master Programs.
• Does it have to be official transcripts?
  • Yes, transcripts must be sent by your high school/college and must be sealed.
• Can I get an internship without the scholarship? (Very popular question)
  • No.
• Does the application need to be mailed?
  • No.  The application needs to be completed and submitted online.
• Can I apply if I want to be in a trade school or union, but I am not yet a member?
  • Yes, if you are actively pursuing an apprenticeship in either one, i.e. If you are working for a union contractor but not yet accepted into the union or are a High School senior with apprenticeship to start upon graduation.
