Dear University of Washington Students,
Winter quarter 2023 registration begins Friday, November 4.
To get started with registration, review your academic plan for winter quarter 2023 and seek guidance from an adviser if you need assistance. Then, sign into MyUW and complete your pre-registration steps before your estimated priority registration date.
Important Reminder: Set up and opt in to 2FA before winter registration
Before winter quarter 2023 registration begins, the UW will require two-factor authentication (2FA) for your UW NetID account to protect both your and the University’s information. With 2FA, you sign in first with your UW NetID and password, then use a 2FA device (such as your smartphone) to confirm your identity. If you have not set 2FA up before registration for winter 2023 begins November 4th, you will not be able to register or access UW online systems. Graduating autumn quarter and/or not planning on registering for winter 2023? You still need to set up your 2FA to use any UW online system after November 2nd.

Prepare for Registration
- View the Priority Registration Schedule for winter quarter 2023
- Complete your pre-registration steps before registration begins
- Check your tuition balance
- Verify that you do not have any registration blocks by checking the MyUW Registration card or the MyPlan Registration screen. A common cause of registration blocks is incomplete COVID-19 and/or Measles, Mumps, and Meningococcal (MMM) immunization requirements. Note that you only need to upload this information one time, as opposed to each quarter that you are registering. If you have ANY registration blocks, you will not be able to register for classes for winter quarter 2023 until the registration block is resolved. If you have any registration blocks, you will see a message titled “Registration block” that explains the cause of the block and provides instructions for how to resolve it.
- Review the three choices related to Grading Options for S/NS and Numeric grading.
- Need to make a change to your autumn quarter registration? Review the Registration Change Guide for Autumn 2022
- Current Quarter Drop: Review information on how to drop one class and up to all of your classes through this process
- Former Quarter Drop: Looking to drop a class from a former quarter? Review the Former Quarter Drop process information
Expecting to Graduate Next Quarter?
- Be sure to contact your adviser to submit your graduation application by the application deadline, which is the third week of each quarter.
- We are pleased to announce that your diploma name no longer has to match your UW record name! Instead, you can have your diploma issued in the name of your choice by entering your information into the Diploma Name and Address form. This is also where you will put the address where you would like your diploma mailed.
- Complete and submit this form now to ensure that your paper diploma will reach the best permanent address after you graduate. If you have not entered information in the form when we order your diploma the information from your student record will be used to issue and mail your diploma.
MyPlan Updates
- MyPlan’s Learning Format filter helps refine results to sections taught online versus classroom, hybrid or enhanced.
- Schedule Builder now displays registered courses even when there are no planned courses.
- MyPlan will display the Covid-19 registration block message and the Measles, Mumps, and Meningococcal (MMM) immunization registration block message when applicable on the Registration screen.
