About Us

The Center for the Study of Health and Risk Behaviors (CSHRB) is an interdisciplinary research center within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington, School of Medicine. Our goal is to reduce harm related to addictive and other health risk behaviors and improve the health of all people through research, training, practice, and policy initiatives.

WHAT WE DO

  • Conduct research regarding alcohol and substance use, mental health, and other health and risk behaviors, including positive health behaviors and healthy development
  • Develop and test prevention, intervention, and health promotion strategies
  • Assess the effects of policy on health and risk behaviors, mental health and wellbeing
  • Learn from and share what we learn with diverse community partners and the public
  • Offer our expertise in prevention, intervention, treatment, and policy to clinicians, policymakers, and communities
