Approach

We approach our research from an interdisciplinary and multilevel perspective, incorporating individual, family, social network, community, and policy-level predictors and interventions to assess outcomes ranging from individual benefit to public cost. We are inclusive of and attentive to the needs of diverse populations, and partner with community agencies and other institutions to develop and implement our research and translate our research findings to practice. We maintain the highest standards of scientific rigor and ethical conduct, and utilize cutting edge research methods and statistical techniques to contribute to the knowledge base relevant to our mission.

We serve as a local, national, and international resource for training and consultation. We seek to provide trainees at all levels of experience with a strong foundation in research methods, specific content knowledge relevant to our mission, career development opportunities, and skills relevant to an academic research career.

We also teach the philosophy, methods, and implementation of empirically validated clinical interventions and newly developed interventions based on sound theory. We provide a supportive environment within which trainees pursue their own independent research with direct mentoring, as well as collaborate with faculty on research consistent with our mission.

We recognize the critical contributions of research staff to our mission, and seek to foster career growth and satisfaction for all members of the research team. We believe it is vital to our ability to achieve our shared mission for all members of the research team to be supported in contributing to the scientific as well as administrative aspects of our research.
