Dr. Bedard-Gilligan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Washington. She received her PhD from the UW in 2009 and has been faculty since 2012. Her research has been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, and the National Institute of Drug Abuse. Her research predominantly focuses on mechanisms of recovery in PTSD, with particular emphases on treatment outcome, mechanisms of change in recovery from trauma, and the co-occurrence of PTSD, alcohol use, and cannabis use disorders. Dr. Bedard-Gilligan is also involved in research around testing and disseminating evidence based treatments for PTSD in low resource settings both in the US and internationally. She has presented her research at national conferences and has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals. She also maintains an active clinical practice specializing in using empirically supported treatments for PTSD and other anxiety disorders at the University of Washington Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic. She is involved in training and supervising individuals in the use of empirically supported treatments for PTSD and other disorders through the UW Psychology Department and the UW School of Medicine Psychology and Psychiatry Residency Programs.
