Marijuana Use and Mental Health Across Adolescence

Grant Title: Marijuana use and disorders from adolescence into young adulthood: Examining descriptive epidemiology and mental health risk factors in a community-based cohort
Principal Investigator: Isaac Rhew, PhD, MPH
Sponsor: University of Washington Alcohol and Drug Abuse Institute
Project Period: 1/16/16-6/30/16

This pilot project examines the descriptive epidemiology of marijuana use and disorders as well as effects of mental health problems such as depression and conduct problems on marijuana use among a pre-existing community-based prospective cohort of individuals followed from early adolescence into young adulthood. Data and results from this project will be used as a foundation to further understand the timing and mechanisms of potential reciprocal associations between marijuana use and mental health problems over the course of adolescence.
