Understanding UX Practice: A Research Study

About the study

User Experience is a dynamic and multidisciplinary field. Understanding existing practices and how people are doing their work across in a variety of organizations is key to understanding how the field is evolving. As professors who are helping to prepare the next generation of UX professionals, we want to ensure our programs and courses are relevant and keeping pace as the field matures.

Interviews with UX practitioners

We are interested in interviewing UX practitioners to learn from their perspectives in early 2020.  We are looking for professionals:

  • working in user experience
  • for at least 7 years
  • with some experience in a leadership role.

In this interview, we will ask you to:

  • describe your organization
  • share how UX is practiced in your context
  • describe details of a recent project
  • explain the roles and responsibilities of people working on your team.

The interview will take about 60 minutes and be conducted via Zoom.  To thank you for your time, you will receive a $30-dollar gift card to Amazon or Starbucks (your choice). All information will be kept completely confidential: your company name will not be used and anyone involved in the study will be given a pseudonym. We hope to recruit 40-50 individuals that are in leadership from different companies in the US who practice UX differently.  We plan to publish the results in various academic conferences and participants will be given the opportunity to review any potential publications prior to submission.
