Q Center

Library

The UW Q Center’s Marsha P. Johnson Memorial Library is a community library with close to 1500 items. The library is named after Marsha P. Johnson, a black trans woman from New York City who was a leader in the clashes with police during the Stonewall Riots. She started the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries with Sylvia Rivera to keep young queer and trans kids off the streets of New York City. Marsha was murdered in 1992.

The library is currently under construction while we prepare our collection for student use. Books are not available for checkout or in-space use at this time, but we encourage you to come in and enjoy the newly decorated space!

If you have a queer book you love or a subject you are passionate about that you think the library should cover, we would love to hear from you! Please consider filling out the library suggestion form to help us grow in the image of our community.

Please direct any questions to our staff librarian at asanti37@uw.edu.

The Q Center and all of our programming is funded by the Student Services and Activities Fee.
