Networking in Seattle

Seattle offers many community and professional clubs and organizations aimed at getting people connected on professional, personal and civic levels. Examples include the Seattle Urban League Young Professionals, National Association of Asian American Professionals and Volunteers for Outdoor Washington.

What the UW Has to Offer

Enjoy the Arts at the UW

The UW offers many opportunities for employees and guests to enjoy the arts right on campus. UW staff members are able to go to the Burke Museum, the Jacob Lawrence Gallery and the Henry Art Gallery for free! Performances at Meany Hall, the Jones Playhouse, and the Penthouse Theatre are offered at a discounted rate. The Glenn Hughes Penthouse Theatre was the first theater-in-the-round built in the U.S., and the Floyd and Delores Jones Playhouse underwent a beautiful remodel in 2009.

UW Outdoors

UW is supportive of cyclists and partners with the Cascade Bicycle Club to encourage safe cycling and commuting, with seminars and events throughout the year. HFS has a number of teams that participate in the commuting challenges including one group that calls themselves “The Dirty Chain Gang.” Ride in the Rain is a challenge that has continued over the last six years with participation topping 1,000 staff members. Many bike commuters join teams, while others compete solo. The Climbing Club consists of students, staff, and faculty with an interest in hiking, climbing and backcountry skiing. The Husky Running Club offers another opportunity for staff to network while doing what they love.

UW Sports

There is something to be said about college sports. College sports fans can be some of the most passionate of all, and Husky fans are not an exception. The Washington Huskies have some of the best teams in the nation, including nationally-ranked softball, basketball, and rowing.
