A Message from HFS Assistant Vice President, Executive Director
Housing & Food Services (HFS) plays a critical role at the University of Washington for thousands of students who live and dine on campus. While there are many ways our students craft their Husky Experience, living in residence can’t help but shape that experience as positive, developmental, and transformational.
The caliber of staff we employ is the difference maker in this endeavor! The talent, knowledge, and sophistication of our team members aligns with the high expectations and the quality of work you will find across our great university. The University of Washington is proud to graduate and send out into the world well-rounded and highly educated people who make a difference in the lives of others in so many ways.
HFS prides itself on being a highly collaborative, balanced, and productive department. Our position within the University and our status as self-sustaining means we must be informed and deliberate decision makers, creative problem solvers, and compassionate colleagues and advisors. Those who choose to work with us find an engaging organizational culture situated in a world-class university surrounded by a robust cultural, social, and environmentally astute community.
I am honored to be a part of this organization and everyday find great joy and satisfaction in working with all of our team members, including and especially our Resident Directors. Our RDs allow us to deliver on our mission day in and day out; their work is critically important to our success and their ability to function as active partners in serving our students is a hallmark of the position.
