FAQ

What sets your program apart from other Ambulatory Care Pharmacy residency programs?
  • Our program offers a well-rounded experience in primary care, applicable specialties (cardiology, nephrology, hepatology, GI, pulmonology, among others) as well as academia.
  • The longitudinal nature of the program allows the resident to be embedded in their primary care clinics to develop long-term relationship with patients and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Our program also has a robust emphasis in critical analysis of primary literature to help residents to become strong evidence-informed practitioners.
How competitive is your program?

Our program accepts 2 residents each year, one at each primary care site (Adult Medicine Clinic and Family Medicine Clinic). We participate in the ASHP match process for 1-2 positions.  One position is offered through early commitment to internal candidates.

What electives are offered?

Elective rotations are not offered, however, our program provides a broad range of experiences in terms of disease states and learning opportunities that will prepare the resident to be successful in any primary care or specialty clinic setting as well as academia.

What projects do residents do during their residency?

One research/quality improvement project, CE presentation, and a population health-related project (such as an MUE). Other projects may be assigned or chosen depending on resident’s interest.

What are the staffing responsibilities?
  • 32 hours of staffing per month is divided among:
    • Every other Saturday at outpatient pharmacies (Discharge Pharmacy or Ninth and Jefferson Pharmacy)
    • Every other week at Adult Medicine Evening Clinic (medical student clinic)
    • Providing coverage in respective primary clinics
