Spring Weather Weekend

Last updated 1:00 PM, Friday, April 12th, 2024

Happy Friday, Huskies!

Congratulations on making it through the third week of spring quarter! The weather has been pretty uneventful lately, but at least there was a rainbow sighting on campus yesterday evening to spice things up.

Today’s weather will be similarly uneventful, with both highs and lows on average for this time of year. In the past, we’ve had a wide range of temperature extremes for this time of year as the record high of 79 degrees occurred in 2008 while in 2022 we were at 33 degrees! Winds will be light and blue sky will be visible for most of the day, which will at least add some pleasantness to the monotony.

Good news though, if you have been missing the chance to catch some sun this week, this weekend we will have lovely spring weather, so put down your homework and venture outside (or study outdoors)! The high will hover around 61 degrees with a low around 44 degrees and the sun will be out the most on Saturday, with some clouds on Sunday. Make sure you get your outdoor activities in during the weekend before the typical Seattle clouds roll back in on Monday and cooling down to 52 degrees to start off week 4 of the quarter.

If you’re looking for some more exciting weather, heading down to eastern Oregon may be a good place to be. The NWS Storm Prediction Center has assigned areas in the region a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms both today and tomorrow. Though this is low on the scale, considering how little thunderstorm activity we get here in the Pacific Northwest, any sort of severe risk is noteworthy.

We hope week 3 of spring quarter has been good for all Huskies as we head into week 4!
