Dr. Prichard establishes the FLAME lab

The Fire Landscapes Adaptive Management & Ecology (FLAME)

Dr. S. Prichard

joins the PFC as research scientist in forest ecology with a specialty in wildfire ecology

‘Megan O’Shea’ Scholarship

to commemorate Megan O’Shea’s retirement a student fellowship in support of students in PFC doing field work is established, the award is presented at the PFC board meetings to a PFC student who shows leadership and perseverance in field work efforts. Donations  to this award can be made here.

PFC scientist cumulatively reach a landmark of producing over 200 peer-reviewed publications

Dr. M. Halabisky

joins PFC as a research scientist focusing on studying terrestrial wetlands

LiDAR Course

PFC sponsors a permanent UW lidar class ESRM433/SEFS533 offered for the 1st time  in 2015 with 20 students enrolled, the class grows to 50 students in 2021, the course is taught every spring quarter by PFC remote sensing faculty or PhD candidates under PFC faculty mentorship

Dr. V. Kane

research assistant professor focusing on forest resilience and lidar remote sensing is recruited to join PFC and establishes the Forest Resilience Lab (FRL) at UW

Dr. Kathleen Wolf

research social scientist, joins the PFC, some of her work includes Green Cities and Health project

2013

Prof. L. M. Moskal becomes the PFC Director (2013 – present)

2011

Prof. G. Ettl becomes the PFC Director (2011-2012)

Prof. S. Toth

joins the PFC as an Assistant Professor of Spatial Optimization and establishes the Spatial Optimization Laboratory (SOL/Toth Lab) at UW

Prof. L. M. Moskal

joins the PFC as an Assistant Professor of remote sensing and moves the Remote Sensing and Geospatial Analysis Laboratory (RSGAL) to UW

Prof. David Briggs (retired 2011) becomes the PFC Director (2003-2011)

Prof. Gerard Schreuder (retired  2008) becomes the PFC Director (2001-2003)

2000

Dr. Bruce Larson becomes the PFC Director (2000)

1999

The Precision Forestry Cooperative (PFC) is Established by the WA legislature Advance Technology Initiative establishes at UW and Prof. James Fridley (who worked on developing this initiative) in named as the 1st Director of the PFC. Prof. P. Schiess (retired 2012), Prof. Gerard Schreduder (retired 2008) and Prof. D. Briggs (retired 2011) begin working closely with the PFC. Megan O’Shea (SEFS MS 1998; retired 2019) joins the PFC @50% FTE as the program’s assistant.
