Position 1: Water/Wastewater Internship (Full Time, Temporary)

Description: We have an opportunity in our Bellevue, WA office for a summer intern in our Water and Wastewater Section. The right candidate will have completed at least their second year in an engineering program. Must be self-motivated and be able to work independently as well as with a project team to complete a task. This position will require application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. Primary duties will include assisting with design calculations, drafting technical reports, preparing projects drawings and specifications, performing review and analysis of project sites, water and sewer studies for federal, state, and local municipalities. Typical projects include water and wastewater treatment, water distribution and wastewater conveyance design. This position may also present an opportunity to participate in water treatment technologies research and some limited laboratory work.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in an engineering program
  • Prefer 2+ years completed toward degree
  • 3.00 GPA preferred
  • Attention to detail
  • GIS experience preferred
  • Must possess strong problem solving and communication skills
  • Preference will be given to local candidates

Position 2: Water Resources Internship (Full Time, Temporary)

Description: We have an opportunity in our Bellevue office for a summer intern in the Water Resources section of our Water Group. The right candidate will have completed at least their second year in a civil or mechanical engineering program, be self-motivated and be able to work independently as well as with a project team to complete assignments/tasks. Primary duties will include: assisting engineering staff with design calculations, hydrologic modeling using MGS Flood, developing engineering details, revisions to Microstation Drawings from engineering mark-ups, plotting drawings for check prints and submittals, and assembly of drawing sets for submittals. Other duties may include technical writing, quantity take-off and cost estimation. This position will primarily involve working on the storm water engineering portion of a transportation project.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in an engineering program
  • Completion or near completion of junior year (300 level courses) in a civil engineering program preferably with water resources engineering curriculum such as Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Geology, Fluids Laboratory, Applied Hydraulics, Soil Mechanics, Water Resources I/II
  • Interest in hydraulics and hydrology
  • 3.00 GPA
  • Attention to detail a must
  • Possess strong problem solving and communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • AutoCAD or Microstation training preferred
  • Preference will be given to local candidates
