Read on for information about this important FREE safety course, starting Autumn 2015:
This is a free self-defense course for women, open to all UW students, staff, & faculty.
Violence against women is not restricted by class, age, or race. It affects us all. 1 out of 6 women will be the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime. In 2011, there were 2,217 reported rapes in Washington State.
Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) was developed specifically for women on university and college campuses. It is a simple yet effective program for university students and employees of any age and any fitness level. RAD is not a martial arts program. RAD teaches realistic self-defense movments that require neither special skills nor years of practice to master.
