David Marcinek and Jessica Young named co-directors of the UW Nathan Shock Center of Excellence in the Basic Biology of Aging

The UW Nathan Shock Center (NSC) is one of 8 NIA funded P30 centers whose mission is to provide leadership and resources to advance research into the basic mechanisms driving aging. Aging is the single greatest risk factor for nearly all chronic diseases so a better understanding of the mechanisms that lead to healthy aging will have a significant impact on quality of life and public health. The UW-NSC provides a research development, pilot awards, and statistical expertise to support aging researchers to work with one of 4 cores: 1) Protein Phenotypes of Aging; 2) Metabolite Phenotypes of Aging; 3) Invertebrate Healthspan and Longevity; 4) Artificial Intelligence in Aging.
