Dear Wellness Community,

It’s hard to believe it, but we’re rounding the corner to the end of this academic year! If your time at UW is coming to a close and you’ve formed a relationship with a Wellness Counselor, we’d like to encourage you to book an appointment to have a send off, even if it’s been a while since we’ve seen you.

Closing your counseling work intentionally can be gratifying and joyful and we want the opportunity to wish you well in your next chapter as well! (I’m saying this early to make sure you can get a slot, but you can always reach out by email if you have trouble finding one.)

Whether you are graduating a program or looking ahead to a new year, please consider submitting a Wellness Testimonial (by clicking the BIG button below). Having your (anonymous) words behind our service helps us emphasize the importance of providing free, unlimited counseling throughout your graduate education and gain support to continue to build our offerings!

Below, you’ll see our quick-links to submit a Wellness Wonder, or get info about Peer Programs, Lactation Stations and Discounts have moved to a snazzy new icons bar just above the Mindfulness Minute–check it out!

In this month’s issue, you’ll find information on Seattle Restaurant Week (which is really a month), peak places to catch a sunset, and your last chance to register for our Kitchen on Fire Event April 28th–it’ll be the perfect way to ring in the warm weather!

The MARVELous Peeps: COVengers Assemble

Check out this amazing Peeps contest entry from Dr. Patty Ojeda (PGY 5 Diagnostic Radiology)!

[Spiderman, Thor, Captain Marvel on the top row; Captain America and the Hulk on the bottom row]

Patty describes: “Marvel superheroes are defeating Coronaviruses at the UWMC campus (representing the courageous acts by UW ‘peeps’ as we have defended against COVID-19 these past several months). The silhouettes in the hospital windows represent patients celebrating the heroic efforts!” The MARVELous Peeps get their close-ups here.

Wellness Corner Quick Links

Mindfulness Minute

  • Watch this smart kiddo help his brother calm himself with a breathing exercise. And three cheers for that super-mom!
  • Self-Compassion is a comfort in times of stress and not only increases resilience and perseverance, but also enhances compassion for others. What’s not to love?

Entertainment
