Dear Wellness Community,

Can’t believe it is time to bid goodbye to 2021 and what a year it has been! This year began with some fears and uncertainties and then, for some, a sense of renewed hope.

Most of us got vaccines and boosters too, schools reopened, we were able to gather for summer outings and feast together at Thanksgiving. Sadly, news about the Omicron variant has brought up some uneasiness – it seems like we are in flux again.

Through these changes, we continue to appreciate the sacrifices you make and your tireless work to keep our communities safe. Thank you!! (My dog Kobe is at the right bringing you holiday cheer!)

As we share the warmth and lights of the holidays amid the short, darker days of winter, we are reminded of the ups and downs we all experience. I look forward to enjoying some quiet moments, watching movies, trying out some fun recipes and perhaps reading that book I have wanted to pick up for a while.

This month’s issue has info on fun events in the next month, places to check out holiday light displays, books to read, food to eat, and opportunities to give back. What are some seasonal gifts you look forward to? Be well and we wish you all a very happy holiday season and healthy 2022!

P.S. Some good news! We are excited to share that the Wellness Team will increase capacity by adding a fourth Wellness counselor! We will post the job soon, so if you know of someone that may be a good fit or have questions, please have them reach out to me at: diptic@uw.edu.
