Dear Wellness Community,

Cupped hands holding seedlings

The month of March marks the end of the shorter, darker and colder days of winter and brings with it a sense of renewal and new beginnings. It is a time of transition: a goodbye as well as a Hello.  A time to plant seeds, tend to them and watch them grow.

Join me in bidding adieu to Patty Long-Brohm one of our GME Wellness Counselors. Patty has supported our residents and fellow community for the past 2 ½ years. She has touched many of you and shared her care, compassion, and skills with us all. Patty, we wish you well as you start a new phase of your life. We will miss you and thank you for your many contributions!

As we move through change, we can acknowledge any losses we experience while we gently embrace the new that can rejuvenate our minds and bodies.

March brings many celebrations and observances that relate to starting anew. Join in the joyous celebrations of Purim, Holi, Easter/Lent in the Seattle area. We recognize National Nutrition Month, World Sleep Day, and International Day of Happiness this month. Nurturing ourselves with mindful eating, decluttering spaces to make room, finding ways to pause and take positive actions to promote joy and happiness can all do wonders for our well-being.

We celebrate Women’s History Month, the strength and achievements of our female leaders, advocates from all walks of life who continue to inspire us. This year’s theme is “Women who Advocate for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion”

In this issue, we share ideas to plant and nurture seeds of growth, joy and connection into our lives, feed our bodies and souls and march forward to new beginnings while delighting in the beauty all around us.
