This resource is designed to help University of Washington School of Medicine (UWSOM) programs and departments understand and implement the fourth collective bargaining agreement (CBA4) between the Committee of Interns and Residents Northwest (CIR NW) and the University of Washington.  GME will continue to update this page as we receive questions and/or information relevant to the GME community.

Programs can provide prospective residents and fellows with the CIR-NW Contract website and the Compensation Schedule for CIR-NW Members, both of which are now available on the Prospective Residents and Fellows webpage.

Action Items for Programs/Departments

• Read the new contract on the CIR-NW Contract website
• Work with Department HR to initiate pay changes for any trainees with a dual title including “Stipend”
• Update any relevant and/or required program or department policies and guidance (e.g., Bereavement, Miscellaneous Leave, Sick Leave, Professional Development)
• Communicate changes to candidates and applicants
• Change references from RFPU-NW to CIR NW or “Union” in program materials
• Regularly check this GME CBA4 Information webpage for guidance and updates
• Submit questions to GME (hamrac@uw.edu)

Action Items for GME

• Work with UW Workday Help to enter new pay rates and one-time ratification payments into Workday
• Issue amended RFPAs for residents/fellows only under J-1 sponsorship, per ECFMG requirements
• Update daily rates for billing and issue new single source agreements
• Update meals reimbursement amount
• Update childcare fund amount
• Update relevant GME policies and materials, post and communicate
