Program Description
The PGY2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency at UW Medicine is an ASHP-accredited post graduate program, which provides twelve months of training designed to develop and refine critical thinking skills necessary to make and monitor therapeutic interventions for safe and efficacious use of drug therapy and allow residents to provide patient centered care in primary care settings. The primary practice site for the PGY2 ambulatory care program is at the Harborview Medical Center. The program concentrates on developing an independent and collaborative ambulatory pharmacist who can meet the dynamic challenges encountered in primary care. The resident participates as an instructor for the PY2 skill course for the academic year at the University of Washington School of Pharmacy. This residency program prepares and fosters the resident to take a leadership role as an ambulatory clinical pharmacist and/or clinical faculty.
